McKinney Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jodi Ann LaFreniere Ray has resigned, the chamber announced Thursday.

She will leave her position effective Friday to pursue a private-sector opportunity. Ray has been with the McKinney Chamber for the past four and a half years after serving in similar positions in Connecticut and North Carolina.

“It has been an honor for me to have had the opportunity to serve this organization and the incredible mission that it represents,” Ray said in a chamber release. “McKinney is an amazing community and very deserving of the many accolades it has received.  It has been my distinct pleasure to work with the members of the chamber, our outstanding staff team, board of directors, city leaders and so many wonderful partners throughout our community.”

Ray Eckenrode, chamber board chairman, said this of Ray: “We appreciate the service and her effort to improve the chamber of commerce.”

The chamber board will meet next week to lay out plans for identifying Ray’s successor, the release stated.

The McKinney Chamber of Commerce represents more than 39,000 employees from more than 1,240 business investors throughout North Texas, according to chamber figures.
